Pending on the treatment you’re electing to have, cosmetic dentistry may actually be beneficial to your overall oral health!

Clear braces (Invisalign) is an excellent example of this.  Many of our patients come to us wanting straighter teeth for aesthetic reasons; however straighter teeth have some added health benefits.  Teeth situated in ideal alignment mean the teeth are easier to clean, reducing the areas for food and plaque to get stuck in and minimizing the risk of missed areas when brushing.  Ideal alignment also allows the gums to fit snugly around the  teeth helping combat periodontal problems.

Another excellent example of this is dental implant treatment.  Replacing missing teeth can give you a boost in self-confidence, but it will also restore your proper chewing function.  Missing teeth can cause other teeth to be lost, tipped and crowded; additionally it will contribute to bone loss in your jaw.

Thinking about cosmetic dentistry?  There just may be a better reason then you know!
