The goal in dentistry is to preserve the natural tooth and restore it to the best of our abilities. Only when the natural tooth is damaged beyond repair and absolutely needs to be replaced will teeth extractions be performed in order to provide the patient with either dentures, bridges, or implants.

Wisdom Teeth Extractions

Our farthest back molars that appear in adults between the ages of 16 and 25 are also called the wisdom teeth. Most people have these teeth removed while they are starting to grow in or shortly after they fully appear if they are causing discomfort. This is because they may be “impacted” and are affecting other teeth in the mouth. Sometimes the wisdom teeth grow into the mouth without any issue and if that’s the case then there is no need to remove them. At Dr. Shane Snider Dentistry we take a panoramic x-ray or “zoomed” out view of the upper and lower jaw which allows us to assess the positioning of the wisdom and discuss with you whether or not removal is needed.
